Meryl Streep

Meryl Streep has been so successful over the years, that we’ve never grown tired of her. I certainly do not remember a time after the 70s when she wasn’t one of the best actresses being casted for something. She almost didn’t make it to this list, not because she wasn’t a star in the 70s but because even though her career took off in the 70s she remained as current in the 80s, 90s and every single decade since. Needless to say this is not solely due to talent -which she has plenty- but a rather fortunate choice of roles, versatility and perhaps even luck. Her first Academy nomination came for her role in “The Deer Hunter” in 1978. A year later she won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress on “Kramer vs. Kramer” after that, her awards and honors are just too many to mention. She’s considered one of the best actresses of all time.

Winning another Oscar perhaps? She’s been nominated for the role she played in her most recent film “The Pentagon Files” This is her 21th nomination. It appears she is not the favorite to win the award but it’s fair to say she stands a chance.
